Tarbes, the prefecture of Hautes-Pyrénées, is linked to Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées airport, and 26 VTC (private hire vehicle) operators are registered for the department. Lourdes, with its sanctuary, generates considerable demand, especially during pilgrimages, and trips to Bagnères-de-Bigorre or the Aure valley follow mountain valleys.
