Bourg-en-Bresse is the prefecture of Ain, where 169 VTC (private hire vehicle) operators are registered. The department borders both the Lyon conurbation and the Swiss border: from the Pays de Gex, trips to Geneva airport are common, while Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport serves the rest of the territory. Between Oyonnax, Bellegarde-sur-Valserine and the communes of the Dombes, distances are often long and mobile network coverage can be patchy.
